O'Hara Outdoors names Christopher Redd first COO

The former Groundworks and TruGreen General Manager joins the company as it expands operations to South Carolina.

O’Hara Outdoors on Thursday named Christopher Redd as its first-ever chief operations officer, ending a four-month search that culminated in the appointment of a veteran managerial executive at the legacy landscaping and outdoor service provider.

Redd, 41, joins as the company develops its Missouri and South Carolina operations. He was most recently the general manager of Groundworks’ largest branch, which he exited in April, after successfully launching the new office set to hit $17 million this year. Redd joined the foundation services company in October 2021 and is credited with creating Standard Operating Procedures adopted across the company. He was also previously the market general manager of TruGreen, the nationwide lawn care provider in the US.

“I have long admired the extraordinary, award-winning yards maintained, designed, built and enhanced by O’Hara Outdoors,” said Redd in a statement. “The company is home to some of the most knowledgeable and meticulous landscapers in the country. As a newly rebranded company, we have the opportunity to reach new audiences and deliver a message that is unheard of in the industry: Make it Perfect.TM”

Redd, will join the company on May 9, absorbing the operational duties of Michael O’Hara, Founder of O’Hara Outdoors. As part of the leadership shift, O’Hara will focus his role as chief executive officer to provide vision and direction for the company's future.

Redd will spearhead a strategic plan within the first 90 days, creating Standard Operating Procedures and aligning management through the GROW model. The company has recently opened operations in Bluffton & Hilton Head, South Carolina. Cohesive structure and measurable accountability are keys to success, according to the newly appointed COO. O’Hara Outdoors is investing heavily to establish brand recognition, employee development and operations in more markets.
